Speaking Scottish is currently run by a two-person team working voluntarily in their own time. As such, we are always looking for more help!
So: how can you help?
1. Become a Speaking Scottish Voice
In order to create more accessible and engaging learning resources, we are looking for recordings of Scottish voices to include on our website.
If you would be interested in taking part and sending us audio clips of yourself, your family and friends (all with consent, of course!), subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media for updates about what we’re looking for. Alternatively, go straight to our Recordings Masterlist to see what recordings we’re looking for.
2. Get in Touch
We would love to hear from you if…
- You have info or knowledge to share about language in your local area
- You are a user of the website with ideas for things that would help you and your learning
- You would be interested in supporting us with social media and/or website management or development
- You would like to be part of a group providing feedback and thoughts on new articles and content
- You have a knowledge of Scottish linguistics and would like to contribute to/support the development of our learning materials
- You speak a particular type of Scottish language that you think could be better represented on the site
- You have experiences of language in Scotland that you would like to share, e.g. in the form of an article or blog post
Our newsletter and social media are both good ways of keeping up to date with things we’re looking for help or support with.
3. Spread the Word!
Our materials are no good if they don’t reach the learners they are intended for! Word of mouth is by far the most successful way for it to do just this, so we would love it if you could share this website or a link to our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn accounts with anyone you think may find it useful or interesting.
